Ciao Laura,
I went to Holy Cross Cemetery today and spoke with a very helpful women. This time I brought a copy of Giuseppe Calleri’s death certificate. She looked again but this time I suggested to her to look under Galleri, as the “C” looks a little like “G”. That did not help. I then asked her to look at Galfaro, which is the surname listed for the father of Giuseppe.
That was it. The index book has Joseph Galfaro, age 30, buried on 10 Feb. 1923. She went to look for the actual burial record but could not find it. She took my address and promised to mail me a copy. I was so excited that we finally found him!!! And so was the lady at the cemetery. She was nice. As soon as I get the information I will scan it an send it.
Now, here is other piece of information she could supply. He s buried in a common grave, which is where many people are buried that could not afford to purchase a grave. She said there are no grave stones in this area. What I would like to do is when I get the information from her I would like to go back with my camera (I forgot it today) and buy some flowers. I can place the flower and take pictures to send to Itria. At least she can see the place where he grandfather is even though it is not marked.
I am sad that the grave is not marked but at least they can rest assured he is in Holy Cross Cemetery, at peace.
Per chi non "mastica" l'inglese

:

Grazie Michael!
Laura
