Translation please

This is a record I have no idea how to even begin reading. All I know is that it is for Anna Canziani.

Is anyone familiar with these records who can tell me why they are so different from the regular fill in the blank type records I have been posting?

born January 18th 1874
father: was Eugenio Canziani, 29 yo, caulker, son of Nicolò
mother: Giuditta Pomo, 30 yo, tobacco worker, daughter of Giacomo.

The main part of the document says Giuditta was Eugenio's wife but the side part says they married in May 31st 1874 so Anna was legitimated.

Anna's documet starts at 6th line.

Yes, in a house situated in Dorsoduro at n° 2406.
Her complete name was Elvira Olga Maria...father Vittorio Canziani (carpenter by prefession) and mother Giuseppina Pezzati (housewife), both residing in Venice.
She married Curcio Francesco on October 16 1937 in Venice.

BUT HERE IS THE TWIST: Here is another record for Giovanni Canziani born to the same parents, but in October 1909. Was it common to give the same name? Or did something happen to the first Giovanni?

It was common, I find it very often in my research. Most likely the first Giovanni died before 1909, so they gave his name to the newborn. I have a family with 4 kids with the same name, unfortunately they kept dying.

Okay, thank you for the confirmation. When I start looking at the death records maybe I'll be able to confirm that information.

Here is yet another Giovanni Canziani born Feb 19 1889 to Carlo Canziani. I am not seeing the mother's name though.

Just under the name of the baby on the right column it is written that Silvestri Lucia fu Alessandro, his natural mother, recognized him as her son in 1891 (possibly the parents got married).

That's interesting. I would think it is the father who would have had to recognize him as his son. Clearly the child is the mother's....

Very often it was the father who introduced the child to the civil officer, usually stating he/she was his child born from his natural union with an unmarried, unnamed woman who wasn't his relative. Sometimes simply they were married but only in church (and so it wasn't recognized by the state until they married in the civil office too).

It's a little hard to read and there's a correction at the end of the document but I THINK the mother is Battaggia aka Battaglia Speranza called Gilda, housewife.
Anna then got married to Brigo? Pietro on 17 Oct 1917 in Venice
and she died in Venice 29 June 1976
