Molte grazie.

Nancy, could you be a little more specific? What period (years)are you researching? What do you specifically need? Birth or marriage or military records? Church or civil records?

Hi Nancy, I live near Vicenza and I could help you for your research. As Laura already told you I need you to be more specific and to know in which city or village you are looking for your various ancestors and for which period. And also to know which kind of information you need: birth, marriage, death, military records or other. Just to give you a track please beware that the public registers exist in Italy since the State became to be one only entity in 1871. Before that the only source we have is the church were the infant had his (or her) baptism or marriage or death.
Let me know and I'll try to give you any news I can have.
Kind regards
Mario

Hello to all !
I'm sorry I haven't responded to you since my first message.
I thought that I would get answers directly through my personal email address if there was answers to my post on the site...
I only read your replies today.
I will post the details tomorrow for the ancestors documents I'm looking for, of course if you are still willing to help me.
Again, I am very sorry for this late reply.
Thank you very much for the replies,
Nancy

Hello to all!
First of all thank you for your reply and I'm sorry for this late response.
Here are the documents I'm looking for:
-Mariage of Augusto ZECCHINATI with Appolonia DE ROSSO sometime between 1905 and 1908
at Forni or Velo Dastico (Augusto immigrated in 1911 to the USA)
-Birth of Appolonia DE ROSSO sometime between 1884 and 1885 at Velo Dastico and her death
at Schio (which I only have a transcript of) on the 30th of June 1921.
-Birth of Augusto ZECCHINAT (which I only have a transcript of) on the 29 of April 1884 at Forni.
(Augusto also I had a younger brother named Giovanno who was born in who married Maria DALLA VIA)
-Birth of Augusto's parents Giovanni ZECCHINATI 23rd January 1847 at Forni and Catherina SPAGOLO
in 1863 at Rotzo (I have the transcription of their mariage 12 February 1882 where it mentions that Giovanni's
parents are Giovanni ZECCHINATI x Maria CAPOZZO and that they are dead in 1882, and that Catherina's
parents are Gio Maria SPAGOLO x Maria PRETTO and are not dead in 1882.
That's all the information I have as of today and I have been searching for the past 15 years with no luck.
I would be very gratefull if someone could help me. I live in France and it's very difficult to search from here.
Best regards,
Nancy

All Birth, Marriage and Death Acts pertaining to the towns you mentioned (Forni, Schio, Rotzo and Velo D'Astico) have been microfilmed by the LDS Church (Mormons). You can easily have access to these microfilms by getting in touch with your nearest center
http://www.familysearch.org/eng/Library ... et_fhc.asp
They will help you to locate which microfilms you need and find all information on your ancestors. You don't need to be a member of the church and it will cost you about 5 Euros.
The records on microfilms start from around 1806.
Bonne chance!!
------------------
http://www.familysearch.org/eng/Library ... et_fhc.asp
I dati sui microfilm cominciano all'incirca dal 1806.
Buona fortuna!!

Thank you Ada for your response and the info. I've allready tried the familysearch site and all I could find was my ancestor that I integrated on there.
It's such a hassle to write in Italy that I gave up years ago. I think it would be easier if I could find someone willing to help that lives in the province of Vicenza.
Thanks again!

Nancy,
I did not mean the Family Search website! If you go to one of their Genealogical Centers they can request for you the rolls of microfilms from their archives and you can view them. Those records are not on line!. On those microfilms you will see the
original acts and not transcriptions :
http://www.familysearch.org/eng/library ... +Rotzo+%28++
http://www.familysearch.org/eng/library ... +Forni+%28++
http://www.familysearch.org/eng/library ... +Schio+%28++
http://www.familysearch.org/eng/library ... +Velo+d%27++
If you need any other explanation, feel free to ask.
--------------------------------
Nancy,

Ada,
If I understand correctly, I have to order the microfilms on line at film.familysearch, pay and then wait for the center nearby to receive the microfilm, then wait again until the center calls me to tell me they have received it, then I have to go over there (one hour car drive) to read it and take notes? And all this with no certainty that I will find my ancestor in the microfilm. Oh my!!!! Sounds very complicated to me. But I guess I have no other solution apart from going to Italy myself for like three weeks

Ok, I'm being picky... but even if I did all this it's still pretty expensive (8.50 euros for just one microfilm of which I'm not sure of)
Or maybe there's something I didn't understand...
Thank you again for the help Ada.

Ada,

Nancy,
I don't think you can order the films on line.
I don't know how it works and what are the rules followed by the LDS Church in France. In Italy we have to go to the Center and make a request there. The easiest thing to do would be to get in touch by telephone with the Center and ask. As far as I know you won't pay 8.50 for each microfilm. You can request more than one microfilm and they will be sent alltogether. I was only asked to pay the post expenses to send the rolls back to their archives. You should localize the places and years you are interested to and decide which films you have to request. Usually films cover a range of years so it shouldn't be difficult.
Of course this will imply going to the Center a few times and pay 5 or 10 or 15 Euros or whatever it's requested and have a lot of patience.
If you believe it's much less expensive and easier going to Vicenza for three weeks and having to travel from a town to another taking into consideration the chance that you might not find and get all what you want, then it's up to you.
Ada
----------------------------------
Nancy,
Non credo tu possa ordinare i microfilm on line.

Hello Ada,
I think that the first step for me would be to contact the nearest LDS center and ask them how to proceed. There is also a person on this site who nicely offered to help out to search for me in the villages I detailed because they live neraby. Thank you again for all the info ! It was nice of you to respond. If you ever need help for searches in France, please contact me. I'd be happy to help.
