Find my GGF birth Certificate Genova

Hi! I'm looking for my GGF birth certificate. His name was Bartolome Romairone. According to his death certificate, he was born in Genova in August 9th of 1873. He could have been born in 1872 ( that's according to his marriage certificate) but we don't know in which Genova's comune. Lazaro Romairone and Maria Cambiaso were his parents. Maria Cambiaso's parents were Giuseppe Cambiaso and Rosa Canepa ( I have Maria's death certificate). I've written unsuccesfylly to a couple of comunes. Also I've try twice to hire someone who could help me. I've read that when you don't know the Italian comune, you could search in Registro di Leva and census. Is that wright? How could I search for those documents in Genova? Should I send a letter? Thanks!

Hi and welcome to this forum! :)

You could write a letter or an e-mail to Diocesan Archive of Genova (for the attention of Don Paolo Fontana) to request a copy of his baptismal act, giving all the data you have:

http://www.chiesadigenova.it/home_page/ ... esano.html

Otherwise you can ask State Archive of Genova if they can look for you in military records as Liste di leva (but time will be long because of staff shortages):

http://www.asgenova.beniculturali.it/in ... ?it/1/home

For censuses (years 1808, 1827, 1856 and 1871) you can contact Historical Archive of commune of Genova:

http://www.comune.genova.it/content/archivio-storico-0

Other solution (in case of negative reply from Diocesan Archive) is to write to all the parishes of Genova, here's a list (to see it copy and paste the link below into the address bar):

If you want, let us know about developments.
Good luck!

His name should be Bartolomeo because Bartolome doesn't exist in Italy.

Romairone was also the name of an hamlet of Genova, but now remains only a street "Via Romairone", so called from the name of an old family, in Pontedecimo district.

As I have unsuccessfully looked in all the Genova's comune( at least those who appears at familysearch), I think he could have been born in Savona. In which comune would you start looking?

A quali comuni hai scritto?

Hi,
you can also check Alessandria province area, because it's very near to Genova.
I've found some Romairones in Gavi (and his hamlet Monterotondo), Parodi Ligure and Bosio communes.

Here's a letter template for Civil Status Office (Servizi Demografici) of Gavi - you should request a "copia integrale dell'atto di nascita":

Contact details of Gavi (see "Servizi demografici"):

Contact details of Parodi Ligure:

Contact details of Bosio (see "Ufficio demografici, stato civile, elettorale e cimitero"):

Hi Mariano,
