Hi
My Great-Great-Great Aunt (Mary Catherine Mazzei 1860-1928) married Rocco Bernardi (1854-1921) in Cardiff, Wales in 1876.
They emigrated to Boston, MA.
His naturalisation certificate states he was born on 15th August 1854 in Tuscany, Italy.
Other records hint that he was born in 1855.
His father was Felice Bernardi.
I think I have found his brothers' who also emigrated to Boston, and they were born in Lupinaia, Fosciandora.
I can't find any birth records online for this place.
Do you know if they are available?
Thanks,
Darin (Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England)
Rocco Bernardi born Lupinaia 1854 or 1855

Hi Darin,
as it's written here:
https://www.facebook.com/ConoscereFabbr ... 8066171863
for that concern the parish of Lupinaia only in 1875 it was incorporated in the Diocese of Massa until 1992, when it returned to belong to the Diocese of Lucca, so for that period you should find Rocco Bernardi's baptism in Lucca Diocesan Archive (in “Vicariato di Gallicano” registers) or directly in S. Pietro Apostolo church in Lupinaia.
See here to contact the parish:

Fosciandora (and the hamlet of Lupinaia) is in Garfagnana and registers of Garfagnana Civil Status (period 1852-1865) aren't held by Florence State Archive but by Massa State Archive, as you can see here:

You can ask them Rocco's birth act too, here's the address:

Hi,
this is the birth act (civil act trascribed from parish register) of Bernardi Felice, son of Dionisio and Bonugli Pasqua.
He was born in Lupinaia, in a house situated in the square, on April 6 1858 and baptized the same day.
His father Bernardi Dionisio was son of Felice, was 30 yo and born in Lupinaia, his mother was Bonugli Pasqua daughter of Pietro, 25 yo and born in Lupinaia.
A witness was Bernardi Pietro of the late Michele, born in Lupinaia too.
Rocco isn't mentioned, perhaps they haven't found nothing about him and have only sent this.
